The Army Surgeon and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend! I can’t believe we have already been married for a year! We have actually been looking through our professional wedding pictures and picking out ones to have printed for our home. They are so much fun to look through! Every time I look through these, I remember that I am surrounded by love – the Army Surgeon, my parents, siblings, friends, and family. We are beyond blessed.

Being a vegetarian/flexitarian who lives with a carnivore can make meal time more complicated. I am always in search of creative dinner ideas that can easily be made vegetarian friendly. What usually works best for us is chicken with a heavy side that I can eat as a meal.
Those of you who know me from my “cereal for every meal” days of residency may be shocked to learn that I can cook. But in fact, I can and I am quite good at it. Here’s what I cooked up for dinner most recently:
I made garlic lemon chicken and mushroom sweet pea risotto for the Army Surgeon and an heirloom tomato salad with risotto for myself. It was delicious! Risotto is one of my favorite foods, and I have always wanted to make it at home but have been too nervous to do it.. until now. So here is my Easy Peasy Mushroom Pea Risotto Recipe

Hello everyone! Hope you all had a fun and relaxing weekend!
I recently listened to episode #20 of the Nourished podcast, and the hosts talked about their experiences with oral contraceptive pills. They both ultimately decided that the birth control pill was not the best method of contraception for either of them. And that’s ok! While I believe birth control pills are a great form of contraception, I understand that they are not for everyone. One of my best friends, also an OB/GYN, has said that getting on birth control is like buying a pair of jeans – sometimes you gotta try a few before finding one you like! I could not agree more. So today I wanted to focus on non-hormonal forms of birth control. I am hoping to highlight some non-hormonal options for contraception – this is by no means a comprehensive list. It is important to note that the only available methods of preventing sexually transmitted infections are male and female condoms.
